ChristCare \| Circles \| Salters \| Presbyterian Women Study Groups \| Church Operations Fellowship is the heart of Indianola Presbyterian Church. In addition to enjoying coffee hour after worship, members participate in a variety of groups and activities that focus on various common interests and Christian values. Study Groups Both Study Groups are taking the summer off. They will resume in September. The Friday morning Women's ChristCare group is a covenant group that shares, supports, prays, studies, and works together. Typically, but not exclusively, the group has chosen to read books or engage in Bible studies that particularly relate to women's issues or spirituality. Acts of service to the church include leading adult study programs to preparing and serving the commemorative meal at the Service of Tenebrae on Maundy Thursday. The group meets on alternate Friday mornings at 10 am, usually in the home of one of the regular attenders. Contact Judy Lee for further information. A Monday evening study group called Bible and Bagels gathers twice a month for prayer, study, fellowship, and sharing. In 2007-08 Bibles & Bagels is taking a closer look at The Acts of the Apostles. The group meets on the 2nd & 4th Mondays of the month, 7 - 9 pm. For more information, contact Peter Maurath Women's Circles * Circle 11 Ladies Circle 11 is a group that meets for Bible study, food, and fellowship. They meet four times a year on the first Thursday of the months of October, December, April and June at 10 am. Please contact the Church for more information. Salters SALTERS got its name from the scripture “You are the salt of the earth.” The purpose of the group is to provide fellowship for any interested members of the church. They meet monthly to share a meal and enjoy each others company. Every December they sponsor a Progressive Dinner. For more information, contact Dorothy Kyle. June 6 6:30 PM Meet in the church parking lot to go together to the Ohio Theater to see "Rear Window" Saturday June 19 6:00 PM Meet at Schiller Park To see "Treasure Island." Bring a picnic supper. July 3rd (or 4th ) 6:00 PM Kinchner’s. A potluck supper and them walk down to Whetstone Park to see the fireworks. Watch the news for the date of the fireworks. July 25th 6:00 PM Meet at Schiller Park with a picnic and the play "Much Ado about Nothing." We understand that Nathan Jackson is in the play. July 31st 6:00 PM Meet at church to carpool to Picnic with the Pops. OSU marching band, fireworks, etc. Bring a picnic! August 21st 5:30 PM Meet at church to carpool to the clippers game. We may try to purchase tickets in advance so we can sit together (and avoid paying scalper prices) September 4th 6:30 PM Potluck dinner and planning at Judy Lee’s home. The History of Presbyterian Women in the Presbytery of Scioto Valley Scioto Valley Presbyterial Society was formed in 1973 by the merger of the former Columbus Presbyterial Society with a portion of the former Scioto Perbyterial Society. This coincided with the formation of the Presbytery of Scioto Valley by merging the Columbus Persbytery with a portion of Scioto Presbytery. 1985 saw the Reunification of the Presbyterian Church. United Presbyterian Women (UPW/USA) and Women of the Church (WC/PC/US) worked and planned together to design a new organization called Presbyterian Women. The new organization came into being at Purdue University, West Lafayette, Indiana. On April 13, 1989, at the Spring Gathering of the PW/PSV the membership voted to divide the Celebration of Giving Pledges with 80% going to the General Assembly Mission Program, 10% going to the Presbytery Mission Program. The 80% which goes to the General Assembly Mission Program is used for worldwide mission (with a small portion supporting Churchwide PW). In the Synod, the missions supported include Health Fairs, Self-Development of People projects, and other emergency needs that arise in the Synod. Presbytery mission includes new church development, the resource center and various congregational and community projects. The Birthday Offering is received in the Spring for up to five special mission projects. The Thank Offering (including Health Ministries) is received in the Fall and its recipients are chosen the following March. 40% of the Thank Offering (including Health Ministries) is designated for medical concerns. More information about both of these offerings is reported in Horizons magazine throughout the year. Church Operations IPC’s congregation takes great pride in its church home. The operations of the church are carried out by a variety of committees, chaired and staffed by IPC members that see to the day to day business of the church. Some of the following are examples: • Property committee • Audit Committee • New Member Committee • Session • Stewardship and Finance Committee • Executive Committee • Worship and Music Committee • Education Committee • Nominating Committee • Personnel Committee IPC is a church that reaches out to the congregation and encourages involvement in the direction of the church as well as making it a church home.
