We are
an Earth Care Congregation

Why we care for the earth…

From the very first pages of scripture, humans are invited into a relationship with creation not as owners, but as stewards. We share soil, breath, and water with every living thing. To tend the earth is to honor the God who made it and called it good. Caring for creation is core to who God calls us to be as disciples.

Our Environmental Stewardship

Solar Powered Church

1

50% of our church’s energy needs come from Solar Panels the church installed in 2023. Curious what production looks like today? Click Here!

Pocket Park

2

Working with the University District Organization (UDO), and made possible through a 614beautiful Grant. We converted the church’s front lawn into a public green space for the neighborhood: The Foster Community Pocket Park! With Hammock Hang, Picnic Tables, Perennial Pollinator Gardens, a Stage and public art, its a wonderful slice of nature. Come sometime by to rest, relax, and restore!

Food Scrap Drop Off Shed & Recycling

In partnership with SWACO, UDO, & Ohio State University, We are proud to help reduce waste going to our landfills by hosting a Food Scrap Drop off Shed (next to our Waldeck Ave. office door) and a Recycling Dumpster for the neighborhood on our back lot!

Worship, Programming,
and Advocacy

4

Earth Care is a regular theme at IPC, we discuss it in our classes, we focus on it in scripture and hymnody for our worship, we offer opportunities for advocacy, and we also try to regularly worship outside (sometimes at local metro parks!) to enjoy the beauty of God’s first sanctuary.
