Teens at Indianola

At Indianola, we don’t just make space for teenagers outside of the church—we celebrate their gifts fully in the life of the church.

We believe the open, questioning, sometimes rebellious spirit of adolescence is a holy gift. Teenagers have a unique ability to see truth clearly, challenge the rest of the church in what needs to be changed, and dream new possibilities for our church and our world. That’s why teens are not just the “future” of the church—they are vital to the church right now.

Teens are fully involved in every aspect of church life. Whether they’re asking big questions in church meetings or youth group, leading worship [ click here to sign up! ], or showing up to serve, they remind us all what it means to live an authentic and searching faith.

All of our youth programming is fully inclusive of LGBTQ youth.

Youth Programs

  • Youth Sunday School

    – Exploring Faith & Confirmation -

    Sundays at 9:00am | Church Library (next to the Sanctuary)

    Our Youth Sunday School is a space for open conversation, hard questions, and deep learning. Teens explore scripture, theology, and the foundations of our Presbyterian tradition. This is also the space where many prepare to confirm their baptismal vows and officially join the church as full adult members.

  • Youth Fellowship

    – Food, Fun, and Faith -

    Sundays at 6:00pm

    Our Youth Fellowship group meets weekly for dinner, games, discussion, and spiritual reflection. We create space to be real—laughing together, supporting each other, and exploring faith in ways that connect to the actual challenges of teen life. Expect everything from service projects to citywide youth group events to bonfires and bowling.

  • Leading and Creating in Worship

    Teens are invited to serve as liturgists in worship, read scripture, and help lead prayer. Those with musical gifts can join the Chancel Choir or Bell Choir—or just try something new! We believe youth are not only welcome in worship, they make it better.

  • Bigger Connections

    – Citywide Outings & Trips -

    Throughout the year, we partner with other progressive youth groups in the Columbus area for joint events and service opportunities. In the summer, we often take trips that build faith, friendship, and memories—from mission work to spiritual retreats to outdoor adventures.
