WELCOME Rev. Trip Porch
One: This is the day that the Lord has made
All: Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
*CALL TO WORSHIP (based on Matthew 11:28-30 & Revelation 14:13)
One: Come, all you who are weary, all you who carry heavy burdens—
All: We come, seeking rest in the arms of God.
One: Blessed are those who rest in the Lord, for their labors are ended, and their peace is made whole.
All: We come to find shelter in God’s mercy, and rest in the promise of eternal peace.
One: Let us worship the One who holds us in life and in death, in waking and in rest.
All: Let us worship God
*HYMN 378 “We Wait the Peaceful Kingdom” MERLE’S TUNE
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION Dirk White
Eternal God, You call us to rest in You, but we are restless. You offer lasting peace, but we grasp at worry and fear.
You promise resurrection and new life, yet we live as though death has the final word. Forgive our anxious striving, our distrust of your grace, and our failure to embrace the hope you set before us. Hear our prayer…
…Time of silent confession is held…
One: God of Peace,
All: Draw us into the quiet of Your presence, that we might know Your mercy, and rest in Your everlasting arms. Amen.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
*RESPONSE OF PARDON 626 “As the Deer” AS THE DEER
*PASSING OF THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all,
All: And also with you.
WE LISTEN FOR GOD’S WORD
PRAYER FOR ILLUMIINATION
SCRIPTURE Psalm 37 4-7 ESV Matthew 11:28-30 CEB
Delight yourself in the Lord; and you’ll be given the desires of your heart.
Commit your way to the Lord, Trust in Him, and He will do it.
He will bring out justice as the light, And fair judgment as the noonday.
Rest in the Lord and wait patiently for Him.
Then Jesus said: “Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest. Put on my yoke, learn from me, and you will find rest for yourselves. For I am gentle and humble. My yoke is easy to bear, and my burden is light.”
Holy Wisdom, Holy Word
Thanks be to God
