WE GATHER IN AWE AND PRAISE
PRELUDE “Oh, What Songs of the Heart” arr. Sara Jonassen
WELCOME Rev. Charlotte O’Neil
One: This is the day that the Lord has made
All: Let us rejoice and be glad in it.
*CALL TO WORSHIP based on Psalm 95
One: Come, let us sing for joy to the Lord.
All: We come with gratitude, with longing, with praise.
One: Let us shout aloud to the Rock of our salvation.
All: We lift our voices, the strong ones and the trembling ones alike.
One: Let us come before God with thanksgiving, with music and with song.
All: For the Lord is the great God, the great King above all.
One: This morning, we need not be more than we are.
All: We come as we are, and we come to worship.
*HYMN 32 “I Sing the Mighty Power of God” ELLACOMBE
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION Robert Bird
Gracious God, too often we have withheld our praise, waiting until we felt
worthy, waiting until our lives felt orderly, waiting until we had something
impressive to offer. We have silenced our own voices out of shame and grown
distant from you out of fear. Forgive us for forgetting that you are not a
demanding audience, but a loving shepherd. Receive us now, not as we wish we were, but as we are. Amen
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
*RESPONSE OF PRAISE 851 “Come, Bring Your Burdens to God” Woza Nomthwalo Wakho
*PASSING OF THE PEACE
One: The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all,
All: And also with you.
WE LISTEN FOR GOD’S WORD
PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
SCRIPTURE Psalm 95:1-7 THE VOICE
Come, let us worship in song, a joyful offering to the Eternal.
Shout! Shout with joy to the rock of our liberation.
Come face-to-face with God, and give thanks;
with loud and joyful voices, praise Him in songs.
For the Eternal is a great God,
and a great King, supreme over all gods.
Within His control are the very depths of the earth;
the mountaintops too—they all belong to Him.
The sea belongs to Him, for He created it—scooped and filled it—
with His hands He made the dry land—every valley and mountain.
Come, let us worship Him. Everyone bow down;
kneel before the Eternal who made us.
For He is our God
and we are His people, the flock of His pasture,
His sheep protected and nurtured by His hand.
One: Holy wisdom, Holy Word,
All: Thanks be to God
