WE GATHER IN AWE AND PRAISE

PRELUDE                                                  "Children’s Song Medley"                       arr. Douglas E. Wagner

INTROIT                          “Bless the Lord, O My Soul”                Mikhail Ippolitov-Ivanov

WELCOME                                                                    Rev. Trip Porch

One: This is the day that the Lord has made

All: Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

*CALL TO WORSHIP                                                                                   Olive Guinn

Leader: A good tree bears good fruit. What's inside will come out — in our words, our  choices, our lives. That's what worship

is really about: the overflow of who we are.

All: Search our hearts. What we carry in us, we want to offer up today.

Leader: We come from a week full of things we've said and done — some of it good fruit, some of it not. We don't have to

pretend here. God already knows what's in us. And he's still glad we came.

All: We come as we are. Grow something good in us.

Leader: So let's worship — not as a performance, but as people who want their lives to match what they say they believe.

Let the fruit show.

All: We're here. We're ready. Let's worship!

*HYMN 397                                “O Look and Wonder”                                                        MIREN QUÉ  BUENO

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION                                                       Caroline Fortman

Merciful God, we confess that what's inside us doesn't always match who we want to be. We've spoken words that hurt. We've held onto things we should have let go. We've acted out of selfishness and stayed silent out of fear. Our fruit gives us away — and we know it. Forgive us. Do what only you can do: change us from the inside out. Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

*RESPONSE OF PARDON 582 “Glory to God, Whose Goodness Shines on Me” GLORY TO GOD

*PASSING OF THE PEACE                                                                Connor Dent

One:   "Christ’s peace is already here among us! Living on through the work of our hands… Let’s share a sign of Christ’s

peace with one another — a handshake, a hug, a wave — whatever feels right. The peace of Christ be with you!"

All:      And also with you.

WE LISTEN FOR GOD’S WORD

ANTHEM                                   “Alleluia”                                                          William Boyce

CHILDREN’S MESSAGE                                                                     Erin Brown

PRAYER OF ILLUMINATION                                                                    Emily Bird

SCRIPTURE        Luke 6:43 – 45      CEB                                                                                                                                          Sam Bird

“A good tree doesn’t produce bad fruit, nor does a bad tree produce good fruit.  Each tree is known by its own fruit. People don’t gather figs from thorny plants, nor do they pick grapes from prickly bushes.  A good person produces good from the good treasury of the inner self, while an evil person produces evil from the evil treasury of the inner self. The inner self overflows with words that are spoken.”

*HYMN                                          “God, We Spend a Lifetime Growing”                                             HYMN TO  JOY

God, we spend a lifetime growing, learning of your love and care,
Planting seeds you give for sowing, working for the fruit they'll bear.
Now we honor faithful servants who, with joy, look back and see
Years of growing in your presence, lives of fruitful ministry.

Thank you, Lord, for ones who teach us what has brought them to this place!
May their faith-filled witness reach us; may we glimpse in them your grace.
Strong in you, their strength uplifts us from our birth until life's end;
Spirit-filled, they give us gifts, as prophet, mentor, guide and friend.

Christ our Lord, you walk beside us, giving daily work to do;
Years go by and still you guide us as we seek to follow you.
If our sight fails, weak hands tremble, minds forget the things we've known,
Lord, we trust that you remember, hold us close, and see us home.
