One: We may not know the time or the place,
All: but we know that God is restoring the world.
One: We may not see the risen Christ before us,
All: but we know his spirit rests on us.
One: We may not know what God is doing next,
All: but we come together in faith, excited to discover it!

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION written by Joanna Harader Bob Concitis
All: Holy One,
One: We long to be faithful stewards of your abundant grace.
All: To serve each other in love and humility.
To serve your world with wisdom and energy.
One: Forgive us when we stumble over pride,
when our words and actions are not guided by love.
All: Turn our hearts when we act in folly.
Restore our energy when it is gone.
One: Sometimes, many times, O God, our efforts fail…
Individual Confessions offered in the silence…
…But, O God,
All: your abundant grace is strong and eternal,
And forgiveness is ours through Jesus Christ.
Thanks be to God. Amen.

PRAYER FOR ILLUMINATION
SCRIPTURE: 1 Peter 4:12–14; 5:6–11
Dear friends, don’t be surprised about the fiery trials that have come among you to test you. These are not strange happenings. Instead, rejoice as you share Christ’s suffering. You share his suffering now so that you may also have overwhelming joy when his glory is revealed. If you are mocked because of Christ’s name, you are blessed, for the Spirit of glory—indeed, the Spirit of God—rests on you.
Therefore, humble yourselves under God’s power so that he may raise you up in the last day. Throw all your anxiety onto him, because he cares about you. Be clearheaded. Keep alert. Stand firm in your faith and do so in the knowledge that your fellow believers are enduring the same suffering throughout the world. After you have suffered for a little while, the God of all grace, the one who called you into his eternal glory in Christ Jesus, will himself restore, empower, strengthen, and establish you. To him be power forever and always. Amen.
One: Holy Wisdom, Holy Word
All: Thanks be to God
