Gracious God, we confess that kindness does not always come easily to us. We are quick to judge and slow to listen. We hold tightly to our frustrations and sometimes find it easier to withhold grace than to extend it. We have received more kindness than we can count, yet we do not always remember it. We forget the people who have carried us, the grace that has sustained us, and the generosity that has made our lives more whole. Forgive our forgetfulness and our closed hearts. Soften us with your steadfast love and teach us to share with others the kindness we ourselves have received. Amen
