WELCOME                                                                    Rev. Trip Porch

One: This is the day that the Lord has made

All: Let us rejoice and be glad in it.

*CALL TO WORSHIP

One: We gather from many places and many stories.

All: But we are gathered by the same Love.

One: Jesus was asked: what matters most?

All: Love God. Love your neighbor. Love yourself.

One: That is enough to build a life on.

All: Let us worship the God who shows us how.

*HYMN 63                                    “The Lord is God”                                                                 AZMON

*PRAYER OF CONFESSION                                                      MacKenzie Murray

God of love, you have placed love at the center of everything. You have told us what matters most: to love you with our whole selves, and to love our neighbors as ourselves. We confess that we have not done this well. The church has too often turned away the very people you have drawn near. We have used your name to wound rather than to welcome. We have loved on our own terms and told ourselves that was enough. Forgive us. Restore in us the full, expansive love you have shown us in Christ, and make us worthy of the name we bear. Amen.

*ASSURANCE OF PARDON

*RESPONSE OF PARDON 582 “Glory to God, Whose Goodness Shines on Me” GLORY TO GOD

*PASSING OF THE PEACE

One: The peace of Christ be with you!

     All:      And also with you.

SCRIPTURE        Mark 12:28-34       CEB

One of the legal experts heard their disputing and saw how well Jesus answered them.
He came over and asked him, “Which commandment is the most important of all?”

Jesus replied, “The most important one is “Hear O Israel! The Lord Our God is the one Lord,  and you must love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your being, with all your mind, and with all your strength. The second is this, You will love your neighbor as yourself. No other commandment is greater than these.”

The legal expert said to him, “Well said, Teacher. You have truthfully said that God is one and there is no other besides him.  And to love God with all of the heart, a full understanding, and all of one’s strength, and to love one’s neighbor as oneself is much more important than all kinds of entirely burned offerings and sacrifices.”

When Jesus saw that he had answered with wisdom, he said to him, “You aren’t far from God’s kingdom.”

SERMON                                                                       Tim Dick, Guest Preacher

Let there be peace on earth and let it begin with me.
Let there be peace on earth, the peace that was meant to be.
With God  our creator, Family all are we

Let us Walk with each other in perfect harmony.
Let peace begin with me, let this be the moment now.
With every step I take, let this be my solemn vow;
