*CALL TO WORSHIP Psalm 96:1-6
One: O sing to the Lord a new song;
All: sing to the Lord, all the earth.
One: Sing to the Lord, bless his name;
All: tell of his salvation from day to day.
One: Declare his glory among the nations,
All: his marvelous works among all the peoples.
One: For great is the Lord, and greatly to be praised;
All: he is to be revered above all gods.
One: For all the gods of the peoples are idols,
All: but the Lord made the heavens.
One: Honor and majesty are before him;
All: strength and beauty are in his sanctuary.
*HYMN 267 “Come, Christians, Join to Sing” MADRID
*PRAYER OF CONFESSION Mary Rebekah Fortman
Mighty God, by your power Christ is alive and continues to rule this world with love. We confess that we often get distracted when we try to follow his way. Our efforts to care for others are half-hearted. We turn away from those in pain. We selectively love. Our fear and doubt remain strong while our gratitude is weak. We are quick to stand up for ourselves, but slow to stand by those in need. Forgive our weak faith, and our sins of omission and commission. Forgive us and set us free by the power of the risen Christ to delight in your will and walk in your ways.
*ASSURANCE OF PARDON
One: God, who is rich in mercy, loved us even when we were dead in sin, and
made us alive together with Christ. In the name of Jesus Christ, I declare to you the forgiveness of all our sins.
All: Let the perfect love of God cast out all fear, fill us with joy, and inspire us to live for others. Amen.
*RESPONSE OF PRAISE 659 “Know That God Is Good” MUNGO NI MWEMA

AFFIRMATION OF FAITH
Let the same mind be in you that was in Christ Jesus, who, though he was in the form of God, did not regard equality with God as something to be exploited, but emptied himself, taking the form of a slave, being born in human likeness.
And being found in human form, he humbled himself and became obedient to the point of death—even death on a cross.
Therefore God also highly exalted him and gave him the name that is above every name, so that at the name of Jesus every knee should bend, in heaven and on earth and under the earth, and every tongue should confess that Jesus Christ is Lord,
to the glory of God the Father. (Phil. 2:5-11)
