*PRAYER OF CONFESSION                                                                                                Bob Concitis

Merciful God, we confess that we do not always use what we have been given for the good of others. We cling to our comfort, protect our own interests, and sometimes mistake what we can do for what we ought to do. We are quick to notice the faults of others and slow to recognize our own. We turn away from truths that unsettle us and overlook the voices that challenge our assumptions.
Forgive us, O God. Soften our hearts, widen our vision, and give us the courage to listen with humility. Help us recognize the ways our choices affect our neighbors, and lead us toward lives marked by compassion, accountability, and grace. Create in us a renewed spirit, that we might use all we have been given in service to your love. Amen.
